Branding and Merchandising Campaign

Stratus

With a mesh of jazz and rock, jazz fusion is a hard-edged genre with an inviting undertone. The goal was to encapsulate that into Stratus’ branding. The lines create a distinction for their name, just as Stratus creates their distinction in a complicated music genre. The colors chosen paint a picture of Stratus in their natural element. The navy blue is the darkness of a crowd eagerly waiting to see the live performance, the accents of bright blue are the stage lights illuminating the room, the yellow is the brassiness of the saxophone shining in your eyes from the stage, and the cool grey is the feeling of music effortlessly flowing in and out of your ears.

The natural warm colors of the album cover give the customer the feeling of being in the recording studio with Stratus. With the added texture on top, it gives the sense that Stratus and this album are well-loved because it is constantly being replayed. Stratus has established themselves as musicians deserving of being on repeat, so it is only fitting their album cover reflects that.

For all of the merchandise together, there is one cohesive design plan. The outlines of the instruments are to reflect just how much the musicians overlap within Stratus’ music. Each design is slightly different, but together they create one cohesive concept. Each merchandise piece is meant to act as a single song. They are fantastic on their own, but they come together to form a concept that mimics that of any successful music album.
