[ Description ]
I wanted to take a modern approach to the book cover as the story of Hansel and Gretel is old and has been changed through the renditions of its many publications. I thought it would be interesting to make the subject of the cover as classic and easily recognizable as a nod to the status of the story. I read the tale of Hansel & Gretel so many times as a kid (it has always been one of my favorite Brothers Grimm stories), I was always entranced by the witch's house built entirely of cakes and sweets in the story. I wanted to use the aspect of those sweets to bring the child-like innocence to the forefront while keeping the evil undertones on the backburner on the back cover.
