Heaven Bound is a short film written and directed by SHSU Alum Stefanie Feldmann about two friends finding themselves on opposite ends of faith as fear spreads faster than truth after a local preacher's rapture prophecy goes viral.
Inspired by imagery from films with similar storylines and themes, like Paul Thomas Anderson's "There Will Be Blood", I wanted to focus on the battle that presents itself between the preacher and his 'disciples' as he loses strength in his grip on the community around him. I decided to use the image of Brother Silas' disciples protesting to prepare for the rapture to promote the tug-of-war relationship the two main characters have as they struggle with opposing views of the ministry's ideologies. One is not swayed by Silas' charm in the slightest while the other falls victim to the charisma and attention that comes with being one of Silas' followers. In the film it is hinted that once Brother Silas has drained one town dry of money and assets, he sets up a new camp in the next one. I thought showing the wear and tear with the wooden cross as the centerpiece of the design would convey the psychological wear and tear that comes with having to keep up with lie after lie until the veil slips up once and then having to pick up and start again somewhere else.

The alternative poster was more character based, allowing the audience to catch a sneak peak of Brother Silas being in the spotlight front and center — already falling under his spell.
